If you are in to Charles Dickens, 800 page books and love historical events....then this book is for YOU!! With Victorian London as a backdrop, you will be taken away to the mystery of finding "Drood" by Dickens and his 'friend' Collins.

I was hoping to really get in to this book, but the length, for me, was just too long. I read about 200 pages and it just didn't grab me. I skimmed through the rest of the book and read the ending, but it isn't the same as reading the whole book. I don't like making a 'review' of a book that I don't read all of it. I will say you should at least give it a try! Everyone has different opinions of what books they do and don't enjoy. I have read many great reviews for this book and am sure many of you out there will love it. "One opinion should not make your decision on whether a book is good or bad..that decision is yours!"

New Baby Gorilla!!

Ok...I know this has nothing to do with books or reviews (I need to start another blog for fun stuff!!)..but I LOVE gorillas!! I have to share this photo of a few days old baby gorilla in the Virunga National Park in the Congo. With all the sad stories still coming out of gorillas getting killed..it's nice to see new life!! Book Review: Wind Dancer

Released : January 1, 2009

"Wind Dancer" is an amazing story of strong-willed Isabelle Renoir and her journey in finding her true meaning in life. She is raised in a British-held frontier during the American Revolution. Change is all around her, but she doesn't know what her place is in the world. She is unlike other women who cook and sew. She enjoys using her knife, riding and shooting her long rifle (which she sleeps with too!) On a journey with her brother to retrieve books for her priest at another fort, they encounter Samuel Holt. He is a rugged American spy who shows up as their guide disappears. He leads them to safety at the fort, but you can feel the sexual passion between Isabelle and Samuel building. On the return trip home, they are attacked by Indians, held prisoner and have to watch a horrific killing. Isabelle must bring in to play her spirituality to help her get through each day in the Indian camp, until the day she can be free.

This was the first book by Jamie Carie that I have read, but it won't be the last. I was pulled in by the interesting time period of the American Revolution. I love any kind of book based in the frontier, which Ms. Carie brings vividly to life at a time the land and country was changing. Strong-willed, independent Isabelle and rugged and strong Samuel are two characters created that you can actual see having been pulled from history. The story is very spiritually based, which worried me a little that it would be 'overly' so, but it didn't distract from the story at all. From the take-over of forts by the "Americans" to the Shawnee rituals at their camps to the passion and love of Isabelle and Samuel from 2 different worlds, this book will draw you in to a period of ours lives that made our country in to the amazing place we live today.

I would highly recommend you read this book, along with the Jamie Carie's other books "The Duchess and the Dragon", "Snow Angel" and the soon to be released "Love's First Light". I should have reviews for all of these at some point in the future!!

Today's question: Have you ever used the Swap This Book function which can be found on the main page of any book (here is an example of Flirting With Forty by Jane Porter: link shown on book page, what it looks like if you click on the link)? If so, what do you think about it? If not, are there any other swap sites you utilize to exchange books once you are done? What do you do with your books if you no longer want them anymore?

I didn't know about the 'Swap This Book' feature on the page of a book on Librarything! Surprise!! I went and took a look of course and am really amazed at how many book swap sites there are online. I knew about a few like BookMooch and PaperBack Swap, but have never used them. I will need to take some time and look at some of the other sites.

Back when I lived in Arizona, I took the books I didn't want or finished reading to a used book store to get store credit for other books. The only problem with doing it online is having to pay for the shipping to send books to people, which isn't bad, but is an extra cost. I have used the Early Reviewer group thread Done with it..to share books with people (and them with me!)
I share my books with my mom and sisters too, so they stay in the family too! Alot of books though stay right with me on my 3 5-shelf bookcases..and 2 3-shelfcases...is that too many?? hahaha.... I love books!
